  • Do I need to provide the result from the National Entrance Examination for Postgraduate (NEEP) when applying to the MSc in Accounting Programme?

    MSc in Accounting Programme adopts online application system as general western universities, applicants are not required to take and provide the test result of ‘the National Postgraduate Entrance Examination (NEEP)’ to apply to The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. 

  • Are there any limitations to applicant’s academic background?

    MSc in Accounting Programme DOES NOT require applicants to have a background in accounting. According to our historical data, 10% of our 2023 admitted students come from none accounting majors, and there is an increasing number of applicants from none accounting majors.

  • After submitting the application online, when should applicants be expecting to receive notice on interview arrangements?

    Applicants shall apply to our Programme through the Online Application Platform. If you did not receive any interview invitation in 3 months of your application date after submitting all the required application materials, you may deem your application is unsuccessful. 

  • Can I submit a valid English Proficiency or any missing admission document(s) later in the admission process?

    Applicants may submit a valid English proficiency later, no later than admission deadline, May 31, 2024. After the admission interview, a conditional offer will be issued to candidates with no valid English proficiency.


    Please visit our Programme website to see what required documents are needed for admission to our programme. If you were unable to upload any required documents into the Online Application System, you may email us via MSAcct@cuhk.edu.cn and upload the document via the online application system. Please state your name and application number clearly when emailing us.

  • Is there any requirement for reference letter and my referrer?

    The referrers should be professors who have taught you during your undergraduate studies. If you have full-time job experience for more than one year, you may also ask your former supervisor to be your referrer.

  • For none accounting background applicants, will accounting related questions be asked during the admission interview?

    For none accounting background applicants with little experience in any professional accounting qualifications eg. ACCA/CPA or accounting related courses, interviewers may ask some business related questions (liberal arts background applicants), or statistic/probability related questions (science and engineering applicants), or academic questions related to the applicant’s undergraduate majors.

  • After the admission interview, when should applicants be expecting to receive an admission decision?

    After the admission interview, unconditional/conditional offers will be sent within 20 working days to qualified candidates.

  • What are the characteristics that the programme is looking for in a potential candidate?

    First of all, the programme is looking for applicants with strong interest in accounting and business related fields. Secondly, we wish to admit those applicants who are willing to actively engage in the classrooms, academic and social activities, independent and be able to think critically, have good team spirit, and able to analyze problems dialectically. 

  • What is the difference between the MSc Accounting Programme at your University in comparison with accounting programmes at other universities?

    Our Programme differs from other traditional Accounting Programmes. Our programme has two concentrations, Professional Accounting and Accounting Analytics. Students may enter into different subdivided fields according to their own interests and career plan. 

    At MSc in Accounting Programme, data analytics is integrated into the curriculum. The curriculum is tailor-made, and in a way, it combines academic rigor with practical learning. Our programme extends the invitation to both accounting and non-accounting majored students to apply.

    Our programme aims to nurture business professionals who are capable of coping with the increasingly complex and global business environment. It is ideal for applicants who wish to pursue a career in accounting, finance, banking, consultancy and management industries.

  • What is the total tuition fee and when should I make the payment?

    The tuition fee for the entire programme is RMB 267, 000 paid separately in 3 installments. First installment is RMB 106,800 (deposit), second installment is RMB 80,100 paid at the start of term 1 in September, and the third installment is RMB 80,100 paid at the start of term 2 in January of the following year.

  • Are there any summer pre-term (fundamental business) courses offered by the Programme?

    We warmly welcome applicants from accounting and other non-accounting major background to study in our programme. We would offer 6 pre-term (fundamental business) courses for all officially enrolled students, 2 of the 6 pre-term courses will start at the end of July. 

  • Can I fast-forward my study?

    The normative study period for MSc in Accounting Programme is 24 months. The curriculum of our programme is rather rigorous. We suggest student with no accounting background to stick to the 24 months study plan. However, since our programme is credit-based, for students who are able to achieve minimum credit requirement on graduation, they would graduate within 12 - 18 months. However, it would be relatively intense. 

  • Do you provide opportunities to exchange studies aboard?

    Yes. All postgraduate students are able to apply to exchange programmes provided by the OAL (Overseas Academic Links) Department, normally in term 1/term 2 and exchange studies aboard in term 3/term 4.  For student who wish to apply for exchange programmes, they are required to notify the programme to preserve their academic status at the school.
